Kristin Schumacher is our winner in the drawing for the email Verification ! Her prize is a year's membership dues paid by the club. Way-to-go Kristin!
Kathy Kinsel's 'show team' finished first in the egg laying contest with Carla Hardwick's layers coming in a close second...and the prizes for that contest were gorgeous choices. See the contest page on this website for more.

The latest newsletter is now in the Clubhouse if you didn't get it by email - check it out there -- and use 'contact us' on this website to alert us to the glitch in the process that prevented you from getting it. the 4th Quarter Club Member meeting is scheduled for December 5th 2015.

get ready for September

September 2015 is going to be very active for the Cream Legbar Club 
-->     -- you will want to make sure that your email is correct by using this website and filling in your name and email address on the form here.  In the left navigation bar it is item 33.  By taking that action you will be entered in the drawing for a year's free membership.  
We are surveying the membership -- the survey access will be emailed ON September 1st to your email --  if you don't get it - then be sure to let us know.  The more members who answer the survey questions  - the clearer the picture of your priorities will be to the Board of Directors.   
If you are a member, if you are reading this after September 1st 2015 and you didn't get the survey, then please go to the 'contact us' (item 99 on the left navigation bar)  and let us know you didn't get your survey link.  
September's Club meeting is going to be so interesting - our resident VP and Vet Dr. Elissa Teel-Duggan will give us some necropsy basics.  Saturday September 26th is the Club meeting date, meeting times will vary by time zone.  "See you there".
September 20th will open the online poultry show entry process -- contact Tony Markley if you have any questions or use the 'contact us' on the web page and your question will be forwarded to him
 -- Maybe September is a good time to make certain that your P/T testing is up to date too.  Most poultry shows require your birds are tested.  AI has shut down a number of shows but many will still be held in late fall and early winter - so be ready - and start looking over your show prospects if you want to participate in shows.  
If you have great photos of your birds, or if you have an article -- send it to Carol for inclusion in the next newsletter. 
The Club wants to hear from you!!  Please use these opportunities to share your thoughts.

update 7-27-15 - If you haven't gotten your Q2 Newsletter - and you are a Club member - use the 'contact us' form to alert us that you newsletter is AWOL. Yesterday we heard that the online Poultry show is postponed. When more information is available - we will post it here. The egg count contest is happening in AUGUST - tally the eggs from your flock - or if you have an outstanding hen -- from that individual and see if you have the winner when the contest ends.


July 2015 - Congratulations to Terry Hill - take a look at the Club's International Page (#16 in the right navigation bar) - you will find a link the Australia's Cream Legbar site and information there from Terry -- Welcome to our new Australian Club members -- so happy that you are members!

Look for the Q2 Newsletter due out this month and at the bottom of the navigation bar --just above the 'site map' -- check out our new Breed Guide - it is in draft format - and we are accepting your feedback/input.
Keep Cool those in the Northern Hemisphere -- Stay warm those in the Southern.



June 2015 -

Look for details in the 2015 Q2 Club Newsletter - another Egg-laying/Hen or flock productivity contest is in the offing similar to the ones held in 2013 -- get your flock primed to compete this August

Still in the finalization process an online Poultry-show/contest - Think about fluffing and buffing your prize specimens and have them 'ready for their close-up' -- Photos to be submitted in August or September this year for the on-line show....More details as they become available... Look at Item 40 in the left navigation bar for a flyer for the online contest.

New: on the left Navigation bar number 17 is a checklist for purchasing Cream Legbars -- at the bottom of the left navigation bar is the New Breed Guide for Cream Legbars!

April - 2015 - First Quarter Newsletter is in the Clubhouse. -- Thanks to the Club's new editor for our Newsletter - Carol Flaming -- some cute pictures of chicks - feeding information and an article about protecting your flock from respiratory disease (very timely at this current moment in history) A note from new president, Michael Baker, -- and pictures of chicks! not to be missed.

  • Feb 4th our 2014 Newsletter for the fourth quarter was emailed out. If you are a member and you didn't get it - then the email address we have for you is one of the ones that bounced back undeliverable. -- Not a problem - the Q4 2014 Newsletter is in the Cream Legbar Club's Clubhouse, and you can access it there. The missing Q3 Newsletter is there too incase you are new or missed that one. -- so we are caught up in Publications. - The Clubhouse is available to Full and Associate members of the Club. -- contact us if you have difficulty getting access.

Thanks to the Texas Exhibition Poultry Group for posting this photo on their face-book page. It's the Cream Legbar Club's table at the Dec.6th Klein ISD First Annual FFA Alumni Poultry and Pigeon Extravaganza in Klein/Spring, TX. A great show with over 700 entries, really a good job for their first show....

Happy Holidays to everyone - and Have a Happy New Year....just think it's almost time to renew our annual memberships!

November 8th - Final Club meeting for 2014 - Officers for next year are: President - Michael Baker, Vice President - Elissa Teel-Duggan, Secretary - Rinda Myers, Treasurer - Kestlyn Penley, Newsletter Editor Carol Flaming, Regional Directors, Debra Janes Blake, Emily Evans-Schnee, Tony Markley, Kathy Kinsel.

October 11th - Sam Brush of the APA evaluated the results of the Dallas 4H groups Cream Legbar project. 30 cages set aside for Cream Legbars - thanks to the kids- the biggest Cream Legbar showing to date. At the Texas State Fair in Dallas. - thanks to Sam, the 4H group and some others who entered birds in the show. Club member Gary Kemp was awarded 1st place for his 11-month old cockerel and two 4H participants were awareded 1st and 2nd for their pullets, and the first place pullet won Best of Breed.

Nominations are open for the OFFICERs for 2015-2016 - Read more on 15E Elections - you can get there by clicking on the navigation bar on the right. Nominations close September 30, 2014.


Congratulations to the dual winners of the 2014 Chick Challenge Contest. Both Anthony Markley and Emily Evans-Schnee will be getting chicks from Greenfire Farms - both Jill Rees' line chicks and original Cream Legbar imports should be in the prize package - soon to be winging their way (well USPS actually) to Emily & Tony!



March 2013 - To clarify the goals and purpose of the Cream Legbar Club - we have added page 10 for your review of the Mission Statement and incorporated our Purpose on the Website home page.


December 2013 - It is time to renew your membership to the Cream Legbar Club - Full Members dues for 2014 are $12. Associate members - no charge. You may use item 06 on the navigation bar at the right of the web page.


Congratulations to club members Jill Rees who's cockerel performed beautifully in the Stoneleigh poultry show in the UK winning best Cockerel (In the UK called the Nationals, her next showing will be the Federation in December sometime - we all wish her and her flock members well). Back in the USA first time poultry show experiences by Kestlyn Penley and Anthony Markley resulted in great experiences and wins in the shows that they entered. We hope to hear more details and see more photos in future Club publications! 11/2013

Information about the final meeting of 2013 is in 'Clubhouse' where you can read minutes and see a slide presentation. THE CLUB handbook is also there in a link and here on item 14 in the left navigation bar. Officers for next year have been affirmed, and -- the Clubs first year is wrapping up.


BIG NEWS for 2014. The prize for the contest will be a pair of Cream Legbar Chicks ordered from Greenfire Farms from the birds imported from Jill Rees flock in the UK. This is astronomically exciting for Cream Legbar fans. Among criteria for the winner of the contest will be a person who is a Full member of the Cream Legbar Club - who is very knowledgeable about the breed, and willing to work to achieve the Club's goals, and has a vision of what they will do with the chicks in the future. Expect more communications regarding this 2014 contest in the future.

Unfortunately several entrants dropped out of reporting eggs...so the picture is incomplete on exactly how Cream Legbars can perform in the summer doldrums.
